The Communications Specialist will assist with the shaping and implementation of communication strategies for the Nassau Queens Performing Provider System (“NQP”) Project Management Office’s (PMO) initiatives. Reporting to the Communications Director, the Communications Specialist will assist in executing the communication strategies across NQP’s full network of more than 8,400 providers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Under guidance of Communications Director, writes, edits, and publishes digital and print communications.
• Maintains and updates information on NQP’s website, including ensuring that content is engaging, accurate and current.
• Writes and disseminates NQP’s weekly digital news briefing (NQP Partner Connection) to be broadcast to NQP’s partners.
• Assists with writing, designing, and proofreading NQP’s monthly digital newsletter (NQP Pulse)
• Designs and disseminates digital (and possibly print) invitations to events
• Drafts, edits, and proofreads flyers, brochures, and other print communications ensuring accuracy and clear engaging message.
• Develop a social media campaign to promote NQP events and activities and to provide content updates to engage health care partners, potential employees and the public.
• Participates as needed in the print coordination/production process of NQP communications.

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing or another relevant field
• 3-5+ years of communications or marketing experience, preferably in a healthcare or non-profit environment
• Excellent written communication skills with strong attention to detail in regards to editing, and proofreading
• Experience using Adobe Creative Suite programs, specifically Adobe InDesign, at an intermediate level or beyond preferred
• Strong sense of project ownership and accountability and demonstrated history of providing quality work within tight deadlines
• Ability to work with a team and collaborate with employees of all levels
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability and comfort level to interview individuals at all levels from organizations throughout the PPS for the purpose of creating communication materials
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently, multitask and prioritize workload
• Strong judgement skills to handle sensitive situations and confidential information with poise, tact, and diplomacy
• Experience writing newsletters using Constant Contact or other web-based newsletter/email platforms preferred
• Knowledge and familiarity with using social media platforms for marketing purposes
• Ability to travel to events and offsite when requested by the Communications Director
