Substation Maintenance : Senior Field Supervisor is responsible for the day:to:day operation of maintaining, trouble shooting and constructing LIPA Substations. Acceptable candidate will manage up to 25 field technicians and mechanics.
Responsibilities (include, but not limited to the following):
- Analytical ability to interpret substation design and provide alternatives that are more cost effective.
- Lead and motivate contract personnel to successfully perform maintenance and construction activities.
- Manage projects to ensure they stay within budget constraints.
- Collaborate with various organizations to ensure the successfully completion of projects.
- Develops creative solutions of the absence of proper material.
- Technical ability in all facets of electrical equipment maintenance and substation construction.
- Develops a coordinated construction plan to successfully complete the projects.
- Respond to equipment failures, recommend troubleshooting methods and interpret test data.
- Recommend design solutions to construction problems.
Required Educations, Competencies and Skills
:Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, with a minimum of 3 years' experience in the in Substation Maintenance, or other areas of repair and troubleshooting electrical equipment in substations, and construction of substations
:Or, a minimum of a high school diploma with a minimum of seven years' experience in the maintenance, repair and troubleshooting electrical equipment in substations and power, and construction of substations.
:Excellent communication skills.
:Capable of interpreting engineering designs and modifies designs as required to ensure operating needs are met.
:Ability to read and interpret schematic and wiring diagrams.
:Supervisory experience relating to contract personnel.
:Knowledgeable in Excel, Word and Access.
:Knowledgeable of all the Operating Instructions and General Operating Procedures regarding a Transmission and Distribution system.
Preferred Educations, Competencies and Skills
:Experience working in a Union environment is a plus.
:Knowledgeable in SAP and Maximo, Oracle, and Maynard estimating.
:Knowledge of the Collective Bargaining agreement.
:Detailed knowledge relating to maintaining troubleshooting and repairing all types of electrical equipment found in substations and power plants.
