Job Description:
Minimum HS diploma or equivalent (must be able to verify.) Candidate will be working in Aerospace propulsion test facility. Will include implementation and data collection duties. Position is supporting several years of backlogged testing activity. Testing supports Super Sonic Combustion Ramjet work testing in extremely high-speed environments. Looking for appropriate experience but training will be provided. Position could support small team of 2, or up to a team of 5 to include Electrical Engineers, Data Engineers, and Techs. Will report to Sr. Mgr. of Operations. Will support test and post-test duties. Position is a replacement for a former team member.
Pros: Dynamic personality that can interface with multiple teams and customers as needed. Testing exp. in an Aerospace environment. Familiar with pressure transducers and thermal couplers (installation and use.) Should be a meticulous, careful worker as these materials are fragile and precise. Aviation backgrounds tend to work well (Air Force.) Calibration tech. background could work
Cons: Electrical, heavy cabling, wiring, and printed circuit board exp. not applicable. Master s degree and computer engineering background not a good fit typically.**
Instrumentation Technician-
Assembly and integration of electrical and mechanical components to create operational systems employing the following skills.
o Connection techniques: Wire stripping, connector crimping, soldering, splicing
o Wiring installation: Conduit and EMT work, i.e. bending, threading
o Circuit testing, wiring verification: DVM use, i.e. Ac & Dc voltage measurement, Resistance measurement
o Ammeter use: Current measurement
Installation of transducers, Thermocouples, Flowmeters and other test instruments
Ability to program PLC (programmable Logic Controllers)
Experience with operating parameters and capabilities of data acquisition systems
Verification of instrumentation functionality and end to end checks
Assembly of electrical cables and thermocouples
Troubleshooting of instrumentation and controls/channels
Ability to wire to a schematic and ability to verify a circuit using a schematic
Component installation
o Mounting enclosures
o Run conduit/EMT to and from enclosures
o Pull cables through conduit
o Mount electrical devices within enclosures
Requirements:
Experience:
Deep knowledge of instrumentation and electrical systems. 120 and 24 Volt. Must have ability to operate small hand tools. Ability to read and interpret drawings and electrical schematics. Ability to work independently and safely. Ability to work with electrical / mechanical devices. Ability to work well with others and be part of the team. Ability to follow instructions and describe, document work performed. Knowledge of Soldering techniques and Ethernet cable assembly a plus. Knowledge and application on use of voltmeter and oscilloscope. Ability to operate in a dynamic work environment (i.e. come in early, stay late, offset lunch / break when required).
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent.
